NL or Private Care?
We're often asked, "What are the differences between Northern Lights and private duty care?"
There are a few answers to that question. In an age where many folks are faced with a tough financial decision as to how to manage their loved one's care, either at home or in a skilled or assisted living facility, it isn't surprising that some opt for private duty care. What people don't always know is that choosing a private duty individual can be costly.
Consider the following:
- Taxes - as an employer, you are required to pay social security, unemployment insurance and payroll taxes.
- Liability - what happens if your provider is injured on the job at your home?
- Backup - should your private duty care provider become ill, who will care for your loved one?
- Abuse/Neglect - who is supervising your care provider? Is your caregiver really qualified?
When you’re a client of Northern Lights, we take these worries off of your shoulders. Our employees are screened, insured and undergo background checks.
